I’m principal writer for NBCNews.com, working on the projects team.
I’m from Atlanta and now live in Kirkland, a suburb of Seattle, with my wife, Jenny, a free-lance magazine reporter and former newspaper editor.
- Knight-Ridder Washington, which no longer exists
- The State in Columbia, S.C.
I’ve also taught news writing and editing at the University of South Carolina and Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.
I often speak at seminars and workshops and in classroom settings, and I am available for such appearances in the Pacific Northwest. I frequently present a program on Web-based news research, and other topics include the online news industry, news writing and editing, feature writing and editing, copy editing, headline writing and managing a news team.
If you would like me to appear before your class or group, you can contact me here.
